ERLARS 2008 - 1st International Workshop on
Evolutionary and Reinforcement Learning for Autonomous Robot Systems

Papers are to be submitted in the PDF format and prepared using the style guide below. The workshop's proceedings will be published in paper and on CD-ROM. Each participant will receive a hardcopy of the ERLARS proceedings, as well as a CD with the proceedings of all ECAI 2008 workshops.

The possibility of a journal special issue based on the workshop proceedings will be explored if enough high-quality submissions are received for the workshop.

Please note that ECAI does not permit the same article to be published both in the main ECAI conference and an ECAI workshop. However, you are welcome to submit an extended version of your ECAI article to the ERLARS workshop. We have raised the page limit to 10 pages, which means you can add additional experiments and/or other material that is useful for the discussion of your method in our workshop. As a workshop author you will also maintain the copyright of your paper so that you will be able to publish the ERLARS 2008 article elsewhere afterwards. You will, however, be required to sign a form allowing the local organisers to include your paper in the workshop's proceedings.

When writing an article for the ERLARS 2008 workshop please follow the instructions given on the corresponding ECAI page for formatting the article. Please note, however, that the submission for the workshop is different in the following ways:

• Submission to the ERLARS workshop is not double blind, so please include your name(s) and institution(s) in the article.
• The page limit for submissions to ERLARS is 10 pages, including figures.
• Please use the given LaTeX template to ensure correct formatting already for the initial version of the article.
• Submission of articles will be through this workshop website (here, to be precise).

If your article is accepted you will need to register for the ERLARS 2008 workshop on or before May 30 for the article to appear in the proceedings. If you register for the ERLARS workshop May 30 will also be the early registration deadline for ECAI main conference (see the ECAI registration page for details). You will need to register both for ECAI and the ERLARS workshop in order to participate in the workshop.
